Did you know that the average US citizen eats 6 pounds of strawberries per year? Well, my strawberry consumption is more like 60 pounds a year :-) When they are at their best like currently, I buy at least 2 pounds per day and the next day, they're all gone.... Anyhow, I just read a newspaper article that confirmed my experiences: strawberries bought at the supermarket just don't taste as well as the ones you can pick in the u-pick farms. This is because they have been "created" to look nice, but not to taste well. For the best taste, look out for the following sorts on the strawberry farms: Daroyal and Malwina. They are supposed to have the best taste. And now on to the recipes of the month:
